Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 25, 2026
Montessori Parent Guide ("we", "us", or "our") provides a parenting support app and related services. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and what choices you have.
This policy applies to the Montessori Parent Guide iOS app and the website at https://www.montessoriparentguide.com.
1. AI Data Sharing and Consent in the App
To provide AI features in the app, we process and share certain AI inputs with our AI provider.
- What is sent: chat messages, uploaded room photos, and related context (such as child age, room type, and budget).
- Who receives it: OpenAI, L.L.C. (current AI provider).
- Purpose: to provide AI chat responses, profile-context extraction, and room-photo analysis.
- Consent gate: no AI data is sent until you explicitly accept the in-app AI consent flow.
- Withdrawal: you can turn this off anytime in the app at Settings > AI Data Sharing.
- Effect of withdrawal: AI chat and room analysis stop immediately after withdrawal; non-AI app features remain available.
2. Data We Collect
We do not require account registration or ask for your name, email address, phone number, or home address to use core app features.
A. Information you provide
- Chat and prompt content you enter in the app.
- Optional child/family context you provide (for example, child age or parenting context).
- Photos you choose to upload for space analysis.
- Because chat and support fields are free text, they may include sensitive information you choose to provide.
- If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and any information included in your message.
- Optional support/feedback content, including:
- feedback text
- optional screenshot attachments
- optional diagnostics/log attachments
B. Subscription and usage verification data
- Subscription tier claimed by the app (free/monthly/yearly).
- Subscription-related verification data provided through Apple purchase flows.
- Limited subscription metadata needed to enable paid features and protect service integrity.
C. Device and technical data
- A stable app-specific client identifier generated and stored on device.
- Network and device signals used for security and abuse prevention.
- App diagnostic logs only when diagnostics are enabled and you choose to share them.
D. Analytics data
- Product interaction and event data (for example, screen views and feature events) collected through app analytics.
- We do not use data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
3. How We Use Data
We use collected data for:
- App functionality: delivering AI responses, running photo analysis, managing subscriptions, troubleshooting support issues.
- Product personalization: tailoring guidance based on your conversation and provided context.
- Security and abuse prevention: protecting the app and service from misuse.
- Analytics: understanding feature usage and improving product quality.
Because direct identifiers are not required for normal app use, we generally do not know your personal identity unless you choose to share it (for example, in chat text or support messages).
We do not use your data for:
- third-party advertising
- brokered data sales
- cross-app or cross-website ad tracking
4. How We Share Data
We share data only with service providers needed to run the app:
- OpenAI, L.L.C. (current AI provider): to generate AI chat responses, extract profile context, and analyze uploaded photos.
- Apple: for in-app subscriptions and transaction verification flows.
- Google Firebase Analytics: for app analytics events.
- Email/support channels: when you choose to send support messages, screenshots, or diagnostics.
Our AI provider may change over time. If it does, we will update this policy and refresh in-app consent where required by law or platform rules.
Third-party processors that handle data on our behalf are contractually required to apply confidentiality and security protections comparable to our standards.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect users and our service from abuse.
5. Data Retention
Retention depends on the data type:
- On-device data (conversation history, profile context, saved analyses): retained until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
- Backend security and usage records: retained as needed for service protection, billing integrity, and operational auditing.
- AI processing logs: requests sent to our AI provider may be retained according to provider retention policies and settings (currently 30 days).
- Support emails/attachments: retained as needed to resolve support requests and maintain support history.
6. Your Choices and Controls
You can:
- turn AI Data Sharing on or off in the app at Settings → AI Data Sharing (turning it off takes effect immediately for AI chat and room analysis)
- clear app data from Settings in the app
- manage or cancel subscriptions through Apple subscription settings
- choose whether to include diagnostics and screenshots in support messages
- disable diagnostic logging in app settings
- contact us to request deletion of personal data we control (including support records) or ask privacy questions
Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time in the app at Settings > AI Data Sharing or by contacting us. For data processed by service providers on our behalf, we will process deletion requests consistent with applicable law and technical feasibility.
Please note that deletion requests may be subject to legal, security, and billing record-keeping requirements.
7. App Permissions
The app may request access to:
- Camera: to capture photos for space analysis
- Photo Library: to select photos for analysis or support screenshots
- Notifications: for local reminders if you enable them
You can change permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
8. Children's Privacy
Montessori Parent Guide is intended for parents and caregivers, not for children to use independently. Parents may provide child-related context to receive guidance. We do not knowingly provide direct services to children or intentionally collect personal information from children acting on their own.
9. International Processing
Service providers we use may process data in countries other than your own. We work with providers that implement appropriate security controls for data handling.
10. Security
We use technical and organizational measures to protect data in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we continuously improve controls and monitoring.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
We will post the updated policy at:
When required by law, we will provide additional notice.
